(Built around 1897 by Pieter Christiaan
Burger) This old 'herehuis' (the only Brandewynpaleis
left of three in the Hex Valley) is situated on architectural land
that used to be part of the original farm De Doorns. De
Doorns was one of the first four farms that were granted in the Hex
River Valley. The original deed of transport was dated March 22nd
1731. More than 100 years later the village De Doorns had been
established on a less useful part of this enormous farm. The first
four farms,Roodezand, Vendutiekraal, De Doorens
and Buffelskraal, were extremely large pieces of land and
together they covered almost the entire Valley.
